Tessah Dunn is a multifaceted artist with a varied strata of musical experience. Classically trained in singing, a self-taught guitarist, keyboardist, and song-writer.
Tessah Dunn started early with piano at the young age of 5, where she began learning and improvising music. She later picked up guitar at the age of 11 and started writing, recording, and performing both independently and in various pop and jazz bands.
Tessah’s performing experience currently spans from Classical Recitals, to beach-side parties, wedding ceremonies, conferences, private events, album releases, shows, and fundraisers.
When playing in an event in Toronto, she’s debuted her original music at venues such as the Royal Ontario Museum’s Friday Night Live, The Drake Underground, and the Smiling Buddha.
Tessah has always seen writing as an analytical art. Her lyrics are purposed to discover, define, and create meaning, along with all the emotion that comes with it. Whether it’s enjoying the brilliant nuances of connection, or creating an amusing exhibit of an awful experience, the focus of her artistry is getting to the heart of the matter in a matter of seconds, no holds barred.
Tessah’s inspiration is influenced by artists like Peter Gabriel, Ben Gibbard, Matt Corby, Allen Stone, and Justin Vernon, her musical style is an amalgamation of folk, pop, and soul. From The Eglinton Grand to Chelster Hall, Tessah’s performing style and repertoire is suited to both broad and intimate audiences.
Tessah’s 5-track original EP “No Better Place” (released September 2011) has been played in over 50 countries.
Her newest single, “Don’t Sorry,” (released February 2018) has been played in over 15, and is available on all online platforms.
